Abstract: The interaction of a shock wave and a wall protected by a pressed sand layer with various thicknesses was studied in this work. The sand screen was placed at a distance of $0.1$$12$ cm from the end-wall of the shock tube or dead-attached to it. The attenuation of the reflected shockwave was compared when it interacted with the sand screen in the two above cases.
