Abstract: Experimental investigation of saturated Freon–113 film boiling on a sphere with 30 mm diameter at atmospheric pressure under conditions of free convection was carried out. Nonsinusoidal wave formations at the liquid–vapor interface were revealed using high-speed video recording. The temperature gradient dependence for the average vapor film thickness was determined.
