Abstract:
The possibility is investigated of raising the interrupting capacity of a vacuum gap with constant axisymmetric magnetic field by means of a shunting resistor with a resistance of $0.5$–$2$ Ohm. The investigations are performed at a current increasing in time with amplitude of up to $1000$ A. The dependence of clamping current on the resistance of shunting resistor and on the rate of current rise is found.
