Abstract:
The results of measurements and published values of the spectral absorption coefficient and refractive index were used for computer calculations of the integral normal emissivity of two kinds of quartz glass – “water-free” KI and “water-containing” KSG. These glasses were also investigated experimentally. Good agreement between the calculated and experimental results was obtained. It is concluded that the “water” (hydroxyl group $\mathrm{OH}$) content leads to a significant increase in emissivity.
