Abstract: We present the numerical modeling results of an experiment where the self-heating process was observed. The results confirm the supposition (put forward earlier) that self-heating occurs during the transmission of an electric current through a graphite specimen at temperatures above $3000$ K and is the consequence of a combination of low thermal conductivity values and strong temperature dependence of specific electrical resistivity.
