Abstract: Using an experimental apparatus originally created for studying the adiabatic throttling effect in the vapor of alkali metals, the Joule-Thomson coefficient was measured in $\rm CO_2$ gas at temperatures of $20$$583^{\circ}$ C and at a pressure of $4$ abs. atm. The measurements were carried out with a view to developing a procedure for studying alkali metals.
