Abstract: Some methods for breeding fissile fuel by means of electrically generated free neutrons are reviewed. These methods are of interest because rapid growth of the nuclear power industry may cause a near-term shortage of nuclear fuel. The outlook for auxiliary breeding schemes is discussed briefly. There is a brief analysis of the economics of electrical breeders.
