Abstract: The problem of describing electronic bound states in the field of a superheavy nucleus is investigated within the formalism of the generalized quantum dynamics (GQD) developed in article (J. Phys. A: Math. Gen. – 1999. – V. 32. – P. 5657–5677). The electronic bound states in a supercritical field, which is imbedded in the lower continuum, are characterized by an energy distribution. In leading order of the theory this distribution is shown to be of the Breit–Wigner form.

Keywords: superheavy nuclei, electronic bound states, unstable vacuum.
