Abstract: Spectral studies and measurements of photoconductivity induced by UV pumping radiation in sheelite-type Ce$^{3+}$-activated fluoride dielectric crystals were carried out. The transition from excited 5d-states of Ce$^{3+}$ ions most probably is is performed to 6s-configuration states, and not to conduction band of the host, as it was stated before.

Keywords: photoconductivity, interconfigurational transitions, excited-state absorption.
