Efficiency test of problem-solving technique "Definition of the procedure of train sorting at a railroad yard"

The common scheduling technology of train sorting at a railroad yard is considered in the paper. Components necessary for automation of the given process within the limits of the expert support system are revealed. Its two components are considered: information model and methods of solution. Recommendations for choosing introduction objects are given. The analysis of possible procedures of problem-solving is shown. The efficiency of methods of solution is estimated on the basis of computer modeling of the given problem. The comparison of productivity of the considered procedures concerning the decisions of the shunting dispatcher is made under the condition that it works by the principle of a "greedy" algorithm. The choice of an optimum method of the decision is made, and the calculation of its efficiency is done. The efficiency can be raised up to 16,199% at those railroad yards where the quantity of train sorting in a day > 50, thus on Russian scale it will essentially reduce idle time of car fleet under storage and will also allow to increase a turn of cars.
