Analysis of technologies to provide multimedia services to mobile terminals

Modern information and communication technologies market is ready to meet any needs of the subscriber if they are accompanied by sufficient demand, and therefore, guarantee service provider not only return, but also profit. Multimedia broadcasting on portable devices such as smart phones or tablet computers is considered as one of such services. A review and comparison of technologies that implement this service, such as DVB-H, WiMAX and LTE is made. During the analysis the advantages and disadvantages of network architectures of these technologies are identified, the choice is justified in favor of technology LTE. The perspectives of providing multimedia services are considered, their prospects for telecom operators are explained and also possible scenarios for their implementation are suggested.
