Abstract: The paper considers two basic approaches to mathematical simulation of traffic flows on stretched highways and on city network elements. Namely, further development is given to the models created by the authors earlier — the macroscopic model based on the quasigasdynamic system of equations and the microscopic one using the cellular automation approach. Both models describe the case of multilane traffic i. e. they take into account the real road geometry. The obtained results of test predictions demonstrate good agreement of the models as well as their adequacy to actual road situations.

Keywords: vehicular traffic flows, microscopic and macroscopic models, multilane traffic.
