Abstract: A parallel algorithm is proposed for numerical solving the 3D dynamic problems in the theory of elasticity for the case of piecewise homogeneous block media with curvilinear interfaces. This algorithm is based on the procedure of splitting with respect to spatial variables; at each stage of this procedure, a monotone ENO-scheme is applied for the solution of 1D hyperbolic systems. Some questions of efficient implementation of the algorithm on multiprocessor distributed-memory computers are considered. The results of application of the parallel program system to a class of model seismic problems are discussed. The paper was prepared on the basis of the authors' report at the International Conference on Parallel Computing Technologies (PaVT-2008; http://agora.guru.ru/pavt).

Keywords: dynamics, elasticity, seismic waves, difference methods, splitting, parallel algorithms, hyperbolic systems.
