Abstract:
The paper presents some principles of Stereo PIV measurements
of instantaneous velocity fields in liquid and gas flows. The problem
of camera calibration for an optical stereo system in relation to the
optical methods for velocity measurements is described. Possible causes of
errors in Stereo PIV experiments are shown. A numerical algorithm for the
calibration correction is proposed to simplify the process of system
adjustment prior to velocity measurements. Two methods for the stereo
reconstruction of velocity fields are described. All proposed algorithms are
tested with the use of real experimental data.
