Abstract: A stable numerical method for solving the inverse problem of finding the distribution of macromolecules of various length in a polymer is proposed on the basis of an analysis of experimental curves obtained for the molecular-weight distribution. An integral Fredholm equation of the first kind with a kernel in the form of the Flory distribution function is considered. The problem of determining the molecular-weight distribution in the process of ion-coordination isoprene polymerization is discussed. A bimodal model for this process is proposed. The kinetic characteristics of each of the two active sites appearing during the isoprene polymerization are specified.

Keywords: inverse problems, molecular-weight distribution, Fredholm equations of the first kind, integral equations, regularization method, isoprene polymerization.
