Abstract: A principal scheme of the establishing experiments for finding three material functions of tensor nonlinear constitutive relations in continuum mechanics is described. These material functions are the functions of three invariants of stress state. It is proposed to use the long cylindrical hollow rods for which one can implement any combination of the following realizable in experiments basic stress states: uniaxial extension, torsion, longitudinal shear, compression.

Key words: constitutive relation, material function, establishing experiment, tensor nonlinearity, invariant, extension, torsion, shear, compression.
