Abstract: The prevalence of polymorphisms in Mycobacterium tuberculosis genes associated with virulence as well as its associations with genetic groups, clusters of strains and drug susceptibility was investigated in the article. The associations between polymorphisms in plcA gene and some LAM family clusters, dosT and pks15/1 genes and Beijing family and lipR gene and the majority of Ghana, Cameroon, Uganda and S clusters were found. Detected interrelation between studied polymorphisms and drug susceptibility is of mediated character.

Keywords: tuberculosis, molecular epidemiology, genotyping, virulence, drug susceptibility.
