Friction and wear of $\mathrm{ZrO_2}$$\mathrm{Y_2O_3}$ ceramics sliding against steel at high speed

Abstract: Sliding wear of transformationtoughened zirconia-bazed ceramic coupled with high-speed steel have been studied at speeds in the range 0.2–34 m/s and at a pressure of 5 MPa. It was shown that à continuous transfer layer formed to serve as a protective transfer layer on the specimen surface during high-speed wear.
