Abstract: In order to verify reliability of fuel assembly exploitation, it’s necessary to know the volumetric distribution of microstructure parameters in 3D. In this paper, we propose to use standard methods of microstructure analysis with further recalculation of characteristics in 3D. This paper represents initial data requirements, algorithm of 3D-conversion, possible errors, and ways of their minimization. Results of the investigation and conversion of porosity of fuel pellets produced from different powders are presented.

Keywords: TVEL (fuel element), pellets, algorithm, porosity.
