Abstract:
In this paper we suggest numerical method for solving 3D hyperbolic equations. The method generalizes classical method of characteristics. Assume that one instead of setting characteristics surfaces of opposite directions have set two surfaces, which intersection line coordinates are known. Initial system of differential equations is rewritten along these surfaces in the following way. Firstly, the system has derivatives along two tangent directions to these surfaces. Secondly, the system has derivatives along common direction of these surfaces. The latter derivatives are treated as new unknown functions. Such system is approximated like compatibility conditions in the classical method of characteristics. Proposed method of pseudocharacteristics was applied to solve 3D supersonic static flow of ideal gas around elliptic paraboloid under different attack angles. Obtained results show high efficiency of the method. The method of pseudocharacteristics can be used in practice.
