Abstract: The continuous analog of Newton's method for solving eigenvalues of the matrices is realized. Convergence of the iteration processes with an optimal iteration parameter is proved. The algorithm considered is applied also to a nonlinear eigenvalue problem.

Keywords: Newton's method, algebraic eigenvalue problems, numerical algorithms.
