Aspects of brittle plate fracture due to interaction with indenter

Abstract: In this paper different aspects of brittle material plate fracture at high velocity impact were investigated. Numerical analysis of contact region showed that there are significant tensile stresses may led to dishing and radial cracks. On the base of equivalent plug's model there was developed analytical formula to estimate residual indenter velocity after penetration of plate made from brittle material.
