Abstract:
In this paper, a posteriori estimates for the velocity, stress and pressure fields are obtained for the stationary Stokes problem. The general estimate is a sum of three physically meaningful parts which correspond to the errors in the constitutive relations, in the incompressibility condition and in the equilibrium equation for the associated stress field. It is proved that the right-hand side of the estimate tends to zero for any sequence converging to the exact solution in the energy space.
