Complex Whitham-deformations in problems with “integrable instability”

The focusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation with boundary conditions of “finite density” as $|x|\to\infty$ is considered. The complex theory of Whitham deformations is used for studying the asymptotics of its solution as $t\to\infty$. Bibliography: 25 titles.
