Calculation of the deposition of water-droplet streams by the moment method

Abstract: Using the problem of calculating the deposition of a plume of finely dispersed water droplets formed by a compact source in an air flow as an example, the moment method for approximate solution of the transport and diffusion equation for a polydisperse medium is verified. A method for closing the infinite chain of moment equations is formulated. The calculation results for the transport and diffusion equation are compared with the calculations performed using the two-moment and three-moment approximations.
