Verification of a numerical algorithm based on quasi-hydrodynamic equations as applied to thermal convection problems

Abstract: It is shown that the quasi-hydrodynamic algorithm makes it possible to simulate the flow of a viscous incompressible fluid in problems of thermogravitational convection at large Grashof numbers, including a correct description of the occurrence of an oscillatory process. The tests for square and rectangular areas are given. The calculations were performed within the framework of the implementation of the quasi-hydrodynamic algorithm in the open package OpenFOAM.
