Fast method for determining aerodynamic forces and moments acting on an airplane in a vortex trail

Abstract: A method based on the application of artificial neural networks is proposed to determine in real time the additional forces and moments acting on an airplane in a vortex trail behind another airplane. The method is based on approximation by means of neural networks of additional forces and moments acting on the airplane caused by the influence of separate vortex sections. When forming a set of data for training neural networks, a program for calculating the transonic flow of the aircraft layout was used in the framework of solving the equations for the full potential in the external flow and solving the equations of the three-dimensional boundary layer on the surface. Accuracy and speed evaluations of the proposed method have been carried out.
