Abstract: A mesh generator intended for consistent three-dimensional regular meshing in the blade channels of a multistage axial turbine is described. The conditions imposed on the generated meshes and the key points of the meshing technique are discussed. The formats of the input data representation and the technique used for approximating and parametrizing the surfaces bounding the computational domains are presented. The features of the variational barrier method revealed while applying it as a mesh optimizer on the radial sections of the turbine flow part are described. Examples of meshes generated by the algorithms are given.

Key words: three-dimensional grid generation, variational barrier method, simulation of axial turbines.
