Abstract: The discrete sources method is used to analyze the transformation of evanescent waves by a nanometric structure. The extraordinary transmission of light through a nanohole in a conducting film is shown to arise in other inhomogeneities. The mechanism of this phenomenon is established using simulation results.

Key words: discrete sources method, nanoparticle in a layer, extraordinary optical transmission, evanescent waves.
