The use of similar trajectories in Monte Carlo computations

I. M. Sobol', Yu. A. Petrov

Moskva

Abstract: The method of similar trajectories permits the radiation spectra for a series of geometrically similar problems to be estimated at the same time. A family of spheres with sources at the centre is considered. It is proved that coefficients of similitude considerably exceeding unity can be used, privided that the optical radius of the basic sphere does not exceed some critical value. On further increasing the radius of the basic sphere the set of permissible coefficients of similitude shrinks rapidly.
