Variation of the resistance of a tube when a viscous liquid containing solid bodies flows through it. The Fareus–Lindquist effect

V. A. Lyul'ka

Moscow

Abstract: The resistance of a cylindrical tube to flow of a viscous incompressible liquid, containing solid bodies, was investigated numerically. A significant drop in resistance, when bodies of certain configuration flow through it, was found. The effect discovered is qualitatively similar to the Fareus-Lindquist effect, observed when blood flows through capillaries.
