We will discuss some aspects of the theory of algebraic curves, including the
upper bound on the order of the automorphism group of a curve of genus greater than 1, branched covers over fields of positive characteristic, Belyi's theorem, etc. The participants are expected to be acquainted with the main notions of algebraic geometry.
