Классификационные проблемы и зеркальная двойственность (27 февраля–4 марта 2006 г., г. Москва)
The conference is the first in the series of events aimed at integrating Moscow graduate students into European math circuit. Due to insufficient funding of science in Russia, our graduate students have been faced by the choice between too short or too long stays abroad, neither option providing for an ideal international co-operation. We ought to mend the situation by bringing Moscow graduate students working in the fields of algebraic geometry and number theory into a closer interaction with their senior colleagues from abroad.
The conference is dedicated to new approaches to classifying Fano varieties. According to the standard mirror symmetry conjectures, numeric invariants of Fano varieties are reflected by the properties of their Landau–Ginzburg models. This turns the study of LG models into a classification tool in geometry. We will review the recent progress in mirror theory of Fanos in dimension 3 and 4 and try to unite as an international group incorporating senior researchers and graduate students.
