Lectures are held in memory of outstanding mathematician I. R. Shafarevich (03.06.1923–19.02.2017) who made huge contributions to number theory, algebra and algebraic geometry.
Speaker
Ruochuan Liu has made fundamental contributions to $p$-adic Hodge theory, including the $p$-adic Riemann-Hilbert correspondence. He recieved the China Youth Science and Technology Award (2020), Shiing Shen Chern Mathematics Award by the Chinese Mathematical Society (2023), ICTP Ramanujan Prize (2024), he is a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (2025).
Title
Abstract: $p$-adic geometry is a core branch of arithmetic algebraic geometry that studies the geometric and arithmetic properties of algebraic varieties over $p$-adic fields. In the past two decades, $p$-adic geometry — represented by $p$-adic Hodge theory — has achieved a series of breakthrough advancements, profoundly influencing multiple fields such as number theory and algebraic geometry. In these lectures we will briefly introduce some fundamental problems and ideas in $p$-adic geometry and $p$-adic Hodge theory, and subsequently discuss some significant recent developments and applications.
