The outstanding scientist academician Vasilii Sergeevich Vladimirov would have had his 90th birthday on January 9, 2013. He made fundamental contributions to mathematical physics, complex analysis, p-adic analysis and its applications, Tauberian theory, transport equation, and quantum field theory. V. S. Vladimirov is the founder of one of the leading schools in mathematical physics.
