Vasiliev Oleg Vladimirovich
(1939–2002)
Corresponding member of RAS
Professor
Doctor of physico-mathematical sciences (1985)

Speciality: 01.01.09 (Discrete mathematics and mathematical cybernetics)
Birth date: 1.11.1939
Keywords: optimal control, optimization, dynamic systems control.

Subject:

His research interests include mathematical problems of optimal control in ordinary and partial differential equations: necessary optimality conditions; singular controls; inverse problems of optimal control, inverse problems of synthesis of optimal control; inverse problems of mathematical physics; computational methods in optimal control problems based on necessary optimality conditions and varied variants of a cost functional increment formulas. O. V. Vasiliev derived the first original results in the field of singular controls for partial differential equations. These results became the basis for singular control theory in partial differential equations. Another popular series of Vasiliev's papers and books is devoted to computational methods for optimal control problems. A number of effective convergent procedures was developed and applied to control problems in economics. Finally, the third series of O. V. Vasiliev's papers is devoted to study of inverse problems of mathematical physiscs by optimal control methods. Here O. V. Vasiliev has stated and studies tsumani problem. The problem is to determine an ocean bottom shift such as evokes a tsunami wave of the given profile. He also studied the problem of recreation of temperature conductivity of a rod for the given temperature assignment along its length. He was a supervisor of 12 Candidates of Mathematics. 6 his disciples are Dr. of Sc., Professors.
