Dmitriy Dmitrievich Mordukhay-Boltovskoy and the development of mathematics in Rostov-on-Don

Abstract: D.D. Mordukhay-Boltovskoy (1876-1952) was a graduate of St. Petersburg University. In 1899 he started lecturing in Warsaw. In 1915, he moved to Rostov-on-Don together with the University of Warsaw. At the university, he survived the all conflicts, through which the university had passed. He succeeded in education of several generations of great mathematicians, who not only continued research in the areas, which the outstanding scientist had defined, but also fully apprehended his pedagogical and methodological ideas. The report will be discussed the key moments of the biography D.D. Mordukhay-Boltovskoy, and his research, teaching and educational work in Rostov-on-Don, and scientific schools, which were established by him and his students, and those "fledgelings of Mordukhay's nest ", who later began to work in Kharkov, Odessa, Moscow, St. Petersburg.
