A combinatorial analysis of a period map: a global topology of fibres

Under a period map, to a given Riemann sufrace with marked points there corresponds the values of periods of distinguished meromorphic differentials on it. We consider in details one such a mapping which comes from problems of a uniform rational approximation. We construct a piecewise linear model on the space of surfaces that allows to determine a global topology of fibres of the period mapping.
