Development of the history of mathematics in Leningrad in the second half of the twentieth century

L. I. Brylevskaya

Abstract: A brief review of the development of studies on the history of mathematics in Leningrad in the second half of the 20th century will be presented. The report is a continuation of a series of reports devoted to the research of Russian historians of mathematics and mechanics. In the 1950s, in a city barely recovered from the aftermath of the war, historical and mathematical research came to a new level thanks to the works of V.I. Smirnov, E.P. Ozhigova, A.P. Mandryka, T.N. Klado, A.A. Kiselev, E.M. Polishchuk, A.M. Zhuravsky and others. A great influence on the development of the history of mathematics and mechanics in our city was provided by the discovery of the Leningrad branch of the Institute of the History of Natural Science and Technology of the Academy of Sciences, and both the work of seminars on the history of mathematics and participation in international projects.
