Photon Recoil Suppression in Optical Tweezers through Mie Resonances

V. Salakhutdinov

Abstract: Photon recoil heating inevitably occurs in precision experiments with levitated nanoparticles, leading to decoherence of their harmonic motion. In this talk, we examine how Mie resonances may mitigate this effect in individual photon-scattering events by reducing the photon recoil energy. Our results provide deeper insight into the underlying processes and point toward improved precision measurements and advanced quantum control in levitated systems. The study is carried out within the far-field and angularly incoherent radiation approximation, and we discuss its applicability and limitations. The main results are presented in the recent preprint [S. Sayyad et al., arXiv:2503.18153].
