T. Shiota

Abstract: We shall discuss the Burchnall–Chaundy–Krichever theory and its application to the Riemann–Schottky problem.
– Polarized abelian varieties and the Riemann–Schottky problem.
– The KP hierarchy, bilinear identity and tau function.
– The Burchnall–Chaundy–Krichever theory and a characterization of Jacobians by the KP hierarchy.
– Novikov's conjecture.
– Welters' conjecture.
– Prym analogue of Riemann–Schottky problem.
