Probing quantum chaos with the entropy of decoherent histories

Nataliya Arefyeva

Abstract: At the seminar a definition of quantum chaos will be given similar to the classical definition using decoherent histories or quantum trajectories using the example of the model of open quantum kicked top interacting with environment. The environment plays the role of a device that records the trajectory of the system. For kicked top model at the classical level, depending on the strength of the kicks, there is a transition between integrable and chaotic behavior. For a similar quantum model, the entropy production of decoherent histories was calculated and its behavior was shown to be very different in the integrable and chaotic regimes. Thus, it is proposed to use the entropy of an ensemble of quantum trajectories as a marker of quantum chaos.
