Michael selection theorem and conditional expectations on commutative $C^*$-algebras

We will present new approaches to existence of conditional expectations of finite index on commutative $C^*$-algebras discovered recently by Alexandru Chirvasitu (ArXiv 2409.03531, 2409.17807) and related to old results of the speaker.
