Abstract: his talk discusses the idea of applying a group approach to the problem of deriving continuous medium equations from kinetic equations. The initial idea was to find the symmetry group of the kinetic equation, extend its action to moment quantities, find the invariants of this group in terms of moment quantities, and, using these invariants, truncate and close the moment system, obtaining continuous medium equations. This concept was tested in a simple, one-dimensional case. It turned out that the original idea was transformed, which resulted in a change in the problem statement. The report will present the evolution of the problem statement and the results obtained.
