Colored Jones Polynomials of 4-Plats

Using the diagrammatic formulation of the Jones polynomial given by the Kauffman bracket, we review the standard construction of the N-colored Jones polynomial. We then consider the case of 4-plat diagrams (2-bridge knots/links) and show that the diagrammatic formula simplifies when interpreted through the representation theory of quantum groups.
