Preparation and characterization of selenopheno[2,3-b]pyridine N-oxides

Treatment of 3-alkynylpyridine N-oxides with SeBr₄ affords 2-R-3-bromoselenopheno[2,3-b]pyridine N-oxides, whose structures were confirmed by ¹H, ¹³C, ⁷⁷Se and ¹⁵N NMR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction.
