The nature and photochemistry of 2,2-dimethyloxirane radical cations in freonic matrices at 77K

The X-ray irradiation of 2,2-dimethyloxirane in freonic matrices at 77K results in the trapping of a cyclic radical cation form, presumably, complexed with a matrix molecule, which transforms into a C-centered distonic radical cation under the action of light.
